At Škoda we know that cars can get messy inside as well as out so, with tv presenter and professional organiser Dilly Carter, we’ve pulled together five tips from how to clean your car seats, to keeping the full car interior mess-free. Whether it’s kids, dogs or even grown-ups making the mess – when you’re on adventures a messy car is part of the journey.

Our research has found more than five million drivers in the UK with children are too embarrassed to offer their friends a lift because of the mess inside their car.

We also know that a messy car is a badge of honour for any family on an adventure, so how do you make sure that once the fun has finished that you can get your car interior back to being spotless in a matter of minutes?

Dilly’s top tips for messy cars:

1. If you’re going on a long trip take a bag with you to put all the rubbish in, or use car bins which are available on all Škoda models

2. We often end up with shoes, wellies, books, coats and everything in our car from children. These can be stored in boxes, nets and other storage

3. No matter the stain – chocolate or sticky drinks – try and get to it as soon as you can, and nothing cleans these better than baby wipes

4. Use tablet holders in the back seat. Not only will this help reduce sticky hands on them but also avoids them being broken, and keeps their mind off more messy activities

5. Children aren’t the only problem, clean marks and mess on touchscreens and surfaces with a micro fibre cloth and clever cleaners

Škoda found crisps, drink and biscuits were the main mess.

Double-sided boot liner

On one side, there’s a practical and easily washable surface, on the other, elegant textile carpeting. The boot liner can simply be turned over to provide a surface suited to the load.

Bag hooks in the boot

Sturdy hooks in the boot are designed to hang items or baggage which would otherwise be unstable or would not fit on the boot floor. You will appreciate them, for example, when you go shopping or need to transport your sports gear around.

Multifunction storage pocket

Where would you place your coat, jacket or umbrella in the boot? The multifunction storage pocket underneath the boot covering offers space for things like these to keep them clean and tidy.

Foldable towing device with electric release

The foldable towing device with electric release is extremely practical. The towbar with integrated socket is unlatched using a button in the boot and does not detract from the car’s design when it is not required.

Adjustable storage compartment in the boot

An adjustable compartment in the boot will keep anything in place, even a ball – no matter how round or fidgety it is. More often than not, you will find yourself using this compartment for your shopping or for the fruits of your gardening.

One-touch retractable boot cover

The retractable luggage compartment cover is manually operated. At the gentle push of the cover, it will automatically retract and free up the boot for loading.

Automatic retractable load cover

The automatically retractable load cover perfectly covers anything you are carrying in the luggage compartment. Its main advantage comes into play when you want to put something in or take something out of the boot. After the tailgate is opened, the load cover automatically moves back one notch.

Roll-up cover

The VarioFlex rear seats available in the Škoda Karoq are equipped exclusively with a roll-up cover attachable to the tailgate. This feature makes all work with the luggage much easier.

Net on the underside of the parcel shelf

The net on the underside of the parcel shelf is an ideal accessory of the car’s luggage compartment that provides additional room for storing lightweight objects. The net is suitable for small objects such as an umbrella and clothing.

Cargo fasteners in the boot

Items can be secured in the boot using cargo fasteners. Just slide your boxes and shopping bags, for example, between the fasteners and they will no longer slide around. The cargo fasteners can be folded away and stored in the boot.

Boot nets

Thanks to the cleverly designed network of meshing, hooks and shelves in the boot, there is no need to compromise between agility and practicality. Boot nets with securing hooks prevent smaller items from moving around.

Boot barrier net

Our dividing net allows you to make most of the luggage compartment capacity. It allows you to load the luggage compartment up to the roof without risk of the load falling into the passenger compartment when braking or in corners.

Flexible organiser

An optional flexible organiser can be purchased for the adjustable false boot floor to secure luggage and prevent it from sliding around during a journey.

Not every load was created equal. The adjustable false boot floor allows easy handling of heavier loads by moving the floor to the loading edge. To top it off, it also creates a hidden storage space for your valuables when you are away from your car.
