Škoda UK celebrates stellar 2024 with record market share

Škoda has rounded off a remarkable 2024 with a significant rise in UK registrations and a record market share. Thanks to a raft of recent launches and updates, Škoda currently has one of the newest model portfolios in the industry, with 80% of the line-up either new or updated in the past 12 months. In a year where overall UK registrations across all brands rose by 2.6% year on year, Škoda comfortably outperformed the rest of the market.

In total, Škoda UK registered 78,601 cars in 2024, an increase of 12.3% over the same 12-month period in 2023 (70,024 units registered). The brand’s flagship SUV Kodiaq model notched up 12,447 registrations in the UK. This represents a 31.2% increase over 2023 (9,490) and lifts the award-winning seven-seater SUV into second place for overall brand registrations for the year.

The second-generation Kodiaq is the first to be offered with a plug-in PHEV drivetrain, which delivers up to 75 miles (WLTP) of pure electric driving range.

Škoda’s acclaimed Enyaq electric car enjoyed a remarkable year, with a 43.6% increase in registrations over 2023. In total, 11,841 Enyaq SUV and Coupé models were registered by the end of 2024 (8,242 in 2023), making it the most successful year yet for Škoda’s multi award-winning electric car. In fact, three years after its market launch, the Enyaq remains one of the top ten best-selling EVs in the UK, claiming 6th position in 2024.

Škoda’s SUV models continued to dominate brand registrations in 2024, with the Karoq and Kamiq proving popular models with UK buyers. The Karoq, the brand’s best-selling model, recorded 14,648 registrations in the 12-month period from January to the end of December (13,435 in 2023), while the Kamiq recorded 10,994 registrations (10,410 in 2023).

In what was a bumper year for new and revised Škoda models, 2024 saw the arrival of a substantially updated Octavia range. The new model introduced a number of key design enhancements and boosted specifications across the range, along with an even more powerful vRS sporting flagship model. As in previous years, the ultra-practical estate variant was the most popular choice for UK buyers, accounting for 60% of all UK Octavia registrations.

Škoda’s strong 2024 performance resulted in a record market share of 4.0% - an increase of 0.3% over 2023. Coming at a time when a number new brands are entering the UK car market for the first time, Škoda’s performance is even more impressive.

Looking ahead, 2025 is set to be equally busy for Škoda. Leading the way is the all-new Elroq – the brand’s second all-electric model. Positioned below the current Enyaq, which itself will receive a substantial update package in the first half of 2025, the new Elroq is priced from £31,500 (Manufacturer’s Direct Price) and is set to make switching to a Škoda electric car even more affordable. With a WLTP driving range of 360 miles, fast DC charging speeds of up to 175kW, the Elroq is available to order and will arrive in retailers in the Spring.
